DPVFD's Fill the Boot kicks off this evening

Beginning this evening, the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department’s will begin its annual “Fill the Boot” campaign, a fundraising effort to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

This year, the department will be present at several local businesses on Friday, Aug. 11 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, from 8 a.m.- noon. The entire Deer Park community is encouraged to stop by, visit with the department and make a donation.

“The Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department is honored to once again have the opportunity to partner with our community to raise money for the fight against neuromuscular diseases,” said Justin Crow, DPVFD Deputy Chief, Station 2. “We typically raise between $8,000 and $10,000 a year, and this is done by everyone coming out to help make the event successful. Please help us continue the tradition and raise money for a very worthy cause.”

DPVFD representatives will be at the following locations on Friday, Aug. 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Baskin Robbins (3811 Center Street), Wal-Mart parking lot (9025 Spencer Highway), Chick-fil-A (9101 Spencer Highway), Walgreens (3300 Center Street) and Fire Station 1 (1300 Center Street).

On Saturday, August 12 from 8 a.m. to noon, DPVFD will be again be present at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Chick-fil-A and Fire Station 1, and will also be at Mornings Kolaches (2231 Center Street, Ste. A) and Shell Federal Credit Union (301 E. 13th Street).
