At its annual Salute to Education luncheon, DP Chamber CEO Tim Culp emphasized the importance of a community-supported school system.

"No matter where you are in your career or life as an educator, if you give your all to this community, this community will support you back," he said.

He pointed to the layout of the luncheon tables. In the middle of the room was the tables set up for the teachers, each sponsored by several Deer Park businesses and individuals. The tables on the outside of the eating area where those belonging to businesses and other organizations.

Culp said the layout of the event is symbolic of the Deer Park community gathering around its schools.

"These tables around you are the community that is Deer Park. This community supports you as educators and they will do whatever you can to help see you succeed as an educator. We are here to support you," he said. “You have the support you need to accomplish the goals and set forth.”

The annual luncheon also honors the Deer Park ISD teachers of the year and the San Jacinto College and Texas Chiropractic College professors of the year.

Deer Park Mayor Jerry Mouton said without teachers, no other professions exist and expressed gratitude to everyone in the education profession.

“Thank you for choosing this profession, thank you to the school district for the job you do. You play a vital role in our community. The colleges too, they educate our future workforce,” he said.
