Fire Prevention Parade set for Saturday morning

Saturday morning, perhaps the city’s loudest parade will travel down Center Street. The Deer Park Fire Marshal’s Office and Fire Department will host its annual Fire Prevention Parade beginning at 10 a.m. Dozens of different trucks, ambulances, ladders and other fire fighting vehicles from across the region are scheduled to participate.

Shell FCU gives back for Hurricane Harvey victims

sfcu fcuThe Furthering Community Unity (FCU) Team powered by Shell FCU completed their ninth annual “Supplies for Students” drive benefitting a school in Deer Park, Pasadena, La Porte, Pearland, Clear Creek, Spring, Galena Park and Humble Independent School Districts.

Throughout the month of July, all nine Shell FCU locations collected monetary and school supply donations. Employees sold chili dogs and Frito pies as well as hosted bake sales in the lobbies for their members to help raise more money. In total, the FCU Team raised $2,700 to purchase school supplies for the designated school districts.

National Night Out set for Oct. 3

The City of Deer Park’s National Night Out event will be Oct. 3, and the Deer Park Police Department and city officials are encouraging neighborhoods, families and community organizations to participate. Neighborhoods can register their party with DPPD.

Friends of DP Library to host fall sale

The Friends of Deer Park Public Library will hold their Fall Book Sale Wednesday, September 27, 2017, through Saturday, September 30, 2017, during normal library business hours. Members of the Friends of the Library are invited to attend the Preview Sale held Tuesday, September 26th from 5-9 PM. Those who wish to renew or become Friends members can sign up at the door.

The Friends of the Library support programs for children, teens, and adults and provide prizes for the Summer Reading Programs. Patrons who wish to support the Library are encouraged to join the Friends. Annual membership dues begin at $5.00 a year for individuals, $10.00 for families, and $2.00 for Senior Citizens. Battleground Golf Course to donate Friday's fees to DP Opportunity Center

Attention, golfers! If you’re looking for a chance to donate to a worthy cause following Hurricane Harvey and enjoy 18 holes, you’re in luck!

The Battleground Golf Course will be donating 100% of the green fees collected on Friday, September 15 to the Deer Park Opportunity Center, and golfers of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to take part.

According to General Manager Rich Earlywine, Touchstone Golf - the entity operating the course – made the decision to organize the fundraising effort to offer direct assistance to residents of Deer Park.
