No charges will be brought against a woman who witnesses say pulled a gun on another driver at Deer Park Elementary Thursday morning. According to Deer Park Police, the altercation was incited by road rage

A road rage incident allegedly spilled into the parking lot of Deer Park Elementary as parents were dropping off their children for the school day Thursday morning.

According to reports, shortly before 8 a.m., one parent got out of their vehicle an approached the window of another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle drew a gun and pointed it at the first driver but did not fire. The children of both parents were in their respective vehicles when the incident happened.

Charges were not filed against the woman with the gun because she said she felt threatened and was about to be attacked.

Lisa McLaughlin, Deer Park Elementary principal, said in a letter that police were contacted and quickly arrived to the campus.

“Unfortunately, children were in both of the vehicles involved, and students were present in other nearby vehicles as well. No one was injured in the incident. In fact, the weapon was never used. But what should have been a reasonably safe drop-off process quickly became a police investigation,” she said.

She said she hopes the incident had no place on school grounds and that it can be used as an example of how disagreements and anger are dealt with.

No incidents were reported on school grounds Friday.
