No one was injured in a Sunday afternoon fire that displaced families living at the Villages at Parktown. The Deer Park Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the fire that destroyed four units, three of which were occupied.

The Deer Park Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that destroyed four apartments at the Villages of Parktown off Pasadena Boulevard.

According to Deer Park Fire Marshal Buddy Rice, the fire department was alerted to the incident at about 1:45 p.m. at the 560 block of South Parktown.

Firefighters arrived to find the one-story wood frame brick and veneer building in flames and called both La Porte and Pasadena volunteer fire departments for assistance.

Rice said the appears to have started in a bedroom closet and spread to the other units via a common attic with no firestops. He said the four units involved were a total loss with one of the four units being vacant.

While the exact cause is still under investigation, he said there was no evidence of a criminal act and no one was injured in the fire.
