The San Jacinto College Foundation is auctioning off a 1972 Nova, with proceeds benefiting student scholarships and program support.

John Phelps, longtime San Jacinto College Foundation supporter and Pasadena resident, donated the antique car to the Foundation. The minimum bid is $18,000, and the auction is open until Thursday, March 2 at 10 a.m.

The Deer Park ISD Board of Trustees held its monthly regular meeting Monday evening. The Board recognized junior high and high school musicians who performed at the Texas Music Educators Association convention earlier this year. In regular business, the Board unanimously passed everything on its agenda.

DPISD to hold state accountability hearing on Feb. 13

Deer Park ISD will hold a hearing on Feb. 13 to present the annual report of educational performance and the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), which includes district and campus data regarding student performance on state assessments.

The hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Education Support Center, 2800 Texas Avenue in Deer Park.

Information discussed at the hearing will include TAPR, financial standard reports, district accreditation status, campus performance objectives, information on violent or criminal incidents, and information on the performance of the previous year’s graduates in their first year of college, as reported by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The hearing is open to the public.

DPHS stars set to shine at Hello Texas

For 35 years, thousands of Deer Park High School students have wowed their classmates, teachers and community at Hello Texas. This year’s event is Feb. 2-4 at the Performing Arts Center at DPHS-South. Tickets are $10 while a three-night pass is $25. Both can be purchased at the high school front office.
